Welcome to BHP Develop, the planning and design division of BHP Law.
As a developer, land or commercial property owner, you are reliant upon the knowledge and expertise of other professionals when it comes to progressing any development.
BHP Develop is the planning division of BHP Law. BHP Develop brings together expertise in land use planning and planning law to serve the region’s development and construction industry. We are one of the leading independent planning practices in the North, and offer a full range of planning and legal services covering major infrastructure projects through to small-scale domestic proposals. We have the ability to take projects through from inception to completion.
Working as individual experts, or within a multi-disciplinary team, our specialists have the flexibility to provide the advice and guidance you will need to maximise any development opportunity – from a feasibility study to the submission of a planning application, or assistance with an appeal, through to a comprehensive full planning and design service for large scale land developments.
The team have an in depth understanding of the planning system that has been gained from local government experience before moving into the private sector, and the private sector itself. Between them the team have previously worked within all sectors of local government including district, county and unitary authorities as well as the National Park Authority. Combine this experience with the expertise offered by the planning lawyers and construction lawyers and they can take your project through to completion.
The wide range of experience at local government and in a private consultancy has resulted in an unrivalled understanding of the challenges and barriers to obtaining planning permission. In addition, we are fully aware of recent changes to the planning system and how these impact on the work of the local planning authorities and ultimately their consideration of your planning application. The team have a wide range of expertise and cover many areas such as minerals and waste development, housing developments, rural developments such as farming diversification and holiday letting accommodation and other commercial matters.
Utilising this expertise, particularly that gained in local government, makes it possible to work up proposals and present a planning authority with a clear vision of what is proposed for a site. This is an invaluable aid to obtaining planning permission.
Recognising that the development industry consists of many relationships however, individual members of BHP Develop can be instructed to assist with any single part of the planning or design process working alongside other professional partners, as necessary.
