Katie Wood

Katie, who is a Senior Planning Consultant, has worked at BHP Develop for 18 months. In addition to this she has 11 years’ experience at working at Local Government level. This has given her a wide range of experience in all areas of town and country planning. Her experience includes a total of eight years of working at Northumberland County Council, where she dealt with minerals and waste and county council developments such as new schools. In this role she gained expertise in dealing with the issues relating to the extraction of primary aggregate, the extraction of building stone and roofi ng slate, as well as applications relating to landfi lls and waste recycling facilities. She was also contrated to assist in the development control work for both Northumberland National Park and Berwick Borough Council. This has given her experience of dealing with applications relating to residential, commercial and tourism developments, particularly in a rural environment. Her time as a local government offi cer has given her extensive experience of the workings of a local planning authority and the ability to negotiate and resolve complex planning issues with developers, members of the public as well as statutory and third party stakeholders.

At BHP Develop she has assisted in progressing a number of developments including applications for housing and sporting developments, opencast coal sites, industrial and commercial and tourism developments.

BHP Develop is a multi disciplinary planning practice offering the full range of planning services. The team advise on a range of projects from major infrastructure projects through to small scale domestic proposals.
